President
Herbert Hoover, in 1929, issued Proclamation No. 1872. With Congress,
he set these nationality quotas. The text in red indicates nations that were
limited to 100 immigrants per year.
Limits of 100 for: Afghanistan,
Albania, Andorra, Arabian peninsula, Armenia, Australia, Bhutan, Bulgaria, Cameroon
(British), Cameroon (French), China, Danzig, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iceland, India, Iraq, Japan, Liberia,
Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Monaco, Morocco (French and Spanish Zones and
Tangier), Muscat (Oman), Nauru, Nepal, New Zealand, New Guinea, Palestine, Persia,
Ruanda and Urundi, Samoa, San Marino, Siam, South Africa, South West Africa, Tanganyika,
Togoland, Togoland (French mandate), and Yap and other Pacific Islands.
