Happy birthday today to Abraham Lincoln, our nation’s first
Republican president. He offers so many stark contrasts to our current
Republican president. Lincoln said, “Don't interfere with anything in the
Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our
liberties.” He also said, “I have always
found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice.” And let’s not forget
this: “A house divided against itself
